My first reaction to Beckham moving over to the US, was how much are they paying him???Knowing that there must have been a large mansion, small island and a large amount of cash that he could afford to burn every week. Well what can Beckham offer to the US that over football stars haven't already done such as Pele. Well its not exactly going to increase his performance,because lets face it.... he isn't a young footballer anymore. But if there is one thing he can do... is promote football. Since joining LA galaxy, the club has sold apparently over 300,000 t-shits with Beckhams name on it. 700 times then what shirts they sold in 2006.
One thing i really cannot understand about David Beckham, is why on earth is he so popular over there? The truth is that there are better players out there. He is for some reason is more popular over there, then he is in his own country! I've been asked a few times aseptically where i live now (Ontario, Canada) is that they think that, i think, he is some sort of soccer god! But the thing is, that he is really good at is, passing a long ball and if the front man has pace there is every chance he will score. And as I've seen, every second of possession he has or every free kick he is about to take, the Americans loose their minds! For some reason they don’t get that he isn’t a goal scorer but some one that would make a great addition to a team (as the England team found out).
Well thought out all the goals, assists and injuries he has and sustains with LA Galaxy I’m sure he will make a great addition to the team and MLS. Hopefully soccer will be one up there with baseball and American Football as one of the favourite American past times.
